First person to introduce LASIK treatment in Sri Lanka, while working as a consultant at Apollo
Hospitals in Colombo 2002 - 2003.

Specializes in refractive cataract surgery (phacoemulsification) ensuring perfect unaided vision
following the cataract surgery, customized laser refractive surgery (LASIK), phakic intraocular lens
implantation, conductive keratoplastay, ocular surface reconstruction, corneal transplantation,
anterior and posterior lamellar corneal surgery, pterygium surgery, & dry eye management.
First surgeon in India to perform Corneal endothelial transplantation surgery (Deep Lamellar
Endothelial Keratoplasty). This is a new revolutionary method of corneal replacement surgery
without the need for surface incisions or stitches, unlike conventional corneal grafting surgery.
First surgeon to introduce Conductive Keratoplasty for presbyopia correction in Andhra Pradesh at
Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad
First surgeon in India to initiate prospective study on Collagen Crosslinking treatment using
Riboflavin and UVA exposure in the management of Keratoconus, at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad.
Over 100 publications and presentations - both at international and national forums and journals.
